The story of Werkd OT, as the people of Tibia tell it. New chapters are added as the story unfolds. The quests that go with it are on the Quests page.

I. The Werkd Guild

Long before the Undertow, the vaults beneath Thais belonged to the Werkd guild: merchants, smiths and keepers of the city's wealth. Their gear was the best that money could buy, and their coin was trusted from Carlin to Port Hope.

The guild's vaults were guarded by the vault wardens, who wore armour of fine blue steel that fitted itself to whoever wore it, whether swordsman, archer, mage or monk. No warden ever lost a vault while wearing it.

Every Werkd Token was once a share in those vaults, a promise of the guild's gold. Tokens are still passed from hand to hand across Tibia, and monsters carry them about, though most of them are no longer what they seem.

II. The Night the Vaults Fell

The guild did not fall to an army. It fell to the sewers. Smugglers who called themselves the Undertow dug up through the old storm drains, found the vaults from below and broke in on a single night.

The wardens fought, but there were too few of them. The Undertow carried off the guild's gold, began minting their own copies of its tokens, and took the wardens' armour as trophies. Its four pieces were scattered:

The Plate and the GreavesKept by the Undertow's master, Silas Crane, in his own strongroom.
The BootsTaken by a warden called Old Harrow, who escaped south and was never seen again.
The HelmSold to a smugglers' crew bound for the desert.

III. Silas Crane, the Ledger King

Silas Crane was a counting-house clerk until he found that a ledger is a weapon. He writes down everyone who owes him, and in Thais that is everyone. His men call him the Ledger King.

From his hall at the bottom of the old vaults he runs the Undertow: runners and smugglers in the tunnels, fences and alchemists in the den, and his hard men, the Enforcers and Captains, between him and the world. Only the strongest teams have a chance of reaching him.

IV. The Sewer Watch

For years nobody in Thais noticed. Then the watchmen started to vanish. Captain Hollis Brack of the Sewer Watch lost three men in a month down the same condemned drain, among them Watchman Edric Voss, who went after a runner and never came back.

Brack cannot take on the Undertow alone. He is looking for adventurers who will. (Quest: The Undertow.)

V. Harrow's Family

Old Harrow left family behind in Thais. His grandson Tommy keeps the Werkd Store in the depot, the stall that once belonged to the guild's quartermaster. His granddaughter Odette keeps a shop across the street, in the back of Frodo's tavern, where she buys up every Werkd Token she can find. "Each one," she says, "is a piece of the guild come home."

Neither of them has given up on their grandfather.

VI. Old Harrow and the Widow Queen

Coming soon.

Harrow fled south with the wardens' boots and reached Port Hope. To stay out of the Undertow's reach he went where no smuggler would follow, deep into the giant spider caves beneath the jungle. Beneath even those, a darker nest was waiting: the lair of the black widows and their Widow Queen.

Hunters who have seen the nest tell of a figure wrapped in silk, hanging high in the Queen's chamber, with a glint of blue steel at its feet.

VII. The Desert Crew and the Shadow Dragon Lord

Coming soon.

The smugglers who bought the wardens' helm took it south to Issavi, hoping to sell it to a collector. While they waited, they went treasure hunting in the caves beneath the city, past the exotic spiders and further down than anyone had gone before.

They found the hoard of the Shadow Dragon Lord, the great wyrm of the shadow dragons. Not one of them came back. The helm is still down there, somewhere in the dark, on top of the dragon's gold.
